FROM INSIDE OUT

FROM INSIDE OUT is a program for teaching art to inmates in prisons in central Virginia. The goal of the project is to take the creative process to an underserved community and to create a new vehicle of expression that builds a sense of self worth. The program also creates a bridge between the prison population and mainstream culture.

What We Do

Artists teach fourteen week art classes at Dillwyn, Buckingham and Fluvanna Correctional Centers.   They hold exhibitions of the art in central Virginia, using half of the sales of the artwork to help continue to finance their program.  The other half  of sales goes to a charity chosen by the inmates.
